A scar revision cosmetic procedure is designed to improve the appearance of an existing scar or to restore function to an area of the body that may be restricted due to scarring. Scar revision surgery can be used to minimize the visibility of scars from injuries, surgeries, or other conditions, helping patients regain confidence and comfort.
Whether you’re looking to enhance the cosmetic look of a scar or need to improve mobility or function, surgical scar revision offers a personalized approach tailored to your needs.
In your one-on-one consultation with Dr. Brown at our Abbotsford office, he will discuss:
Dr. Brown performs scar revision surgery either at Abbotsford Regional Hospital or in the private procedure room located at Abbotsford Plastic Surgery.
The length of the scar revision cosmetic procedure depends on the size and complexity of the scar. Most procedures take between 15 to 60 minutes.
In most cases, the revised area is covered with a bandage and left in place for four days. Dissolving stitches are typically used. Some swelling, minor bleeding, and discomfort are normal during the first 24 hours. Over-the-counter medications, such as Tylenol or Advil, are usually sufficient to manage any discomfort following your scar revision surgery.
If not covered by the Medical Services Plan, Dr. Brown will provide a personalized quote depending on the size and location of the scar. The cost of scar revision surgery typically starts at $750 + GST.
